IT’S TIME (Is. 60: 1-3)

.
"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.  See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
It’s time we rose. It’s time we showed the glory of God. It’s time we manifested the beauty of the Almighty God in our lives. It’s time we woke up from our slumber and face our responsibilities i.e. to fulfill the commandment of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus came to this world to give light to those in darkness. In fact, He expressed it in John 8: 12 that He is the light of the world (When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."). The moment we gave our lives to Jesus, we embraced the Light of God. We are expected to start the work of evangelism with immediate effect, but unfortunately, many of us are still behaving as if we aren’t in the light yet. The word of the Lord coming to us this month says ‘our light has come’, it’s time for us to shine, and we must arise now and lunch into the deep. This is our month of ILLUMINATION. We welcome you all to this light that has come to us so that we may no longer walk in darkness and be able to move around in the discharge of our duties before the Lord.
The light we are talking about is not an ordinary light but a divine one. We are talking of the light of divine revelation; we now have the privilege to hear from God, He gave us the gift of clear vision to see things beyond the physical eyes. We are talking about the light of the Gospel dispensation. We now have the knowledge of the truth of the scripture, the correct interpretation of the Bible. We are talking about the light of the Holy Spirit’s teaching i.e. the Spirit of the Most High God dwells in us, He admonishes us, He guides us and illuminates our paths as we walk in the darkness of the world.
As Christians, we belong to the Light though, but we are living in a dark world, where we experience intellectual, moral, and spiritual darkness. People no longer give in to sound teaching, keeping God’s commandment and doing the right things. We experience the darkness of moral guilt, the darkness of religious error, and the darkness of spiritual ignorance. This darkness is so deep, profound, and very awful that we need a divine light to be able to scale through. This illumination however should not be from a human source but rather has to be the divine one. The light is not inherent in us but derived from the Lord God. The light has been graciously given to us through Jesus Christ for our benefit and use.
Christians and the church must now arise from our spiritual apathy, spiritual lethargy and obscurity. It’s time we took the right and legitimate position in the world, and faithfully discharge our duties. From our passage this morning, God is calling us to behold the light, to receive the light, and to utilize the light i.e. to shine. Privilege confers responsibility, ones one receives the light, such must carry out certain responsibilities to justify the blessing. The Christian is a luminous being who must shine with heavenly luster. Now that you have seen the light, and have received the light, you must as a matter of urgency, rise now and utilize the light to your advantage and for others as well. You are not a slave, rise up and grab your liberty from poverty, perpetual failure, sickness and limitation. It’s time for you to shine and make exploits. Remain blessed in the Lord.

Dangers of Drug Abuse Among Youth

Drug abuse is the excessive, maladaptive, or addictive use of drugs for non-medicinal purposes. It also defines a state, emotional and sometimes physical, characterized by a compulsion to take drugs on a constant basis in order to experience its mental effects. Drug abuse gives rise to dependence both physical and psychological. Dependence gives rise to mental, emotional, biological or physical, social and economic instability. The effects of drug abuse on an individual therefore form the basis for its cumulative effects on the society. This is the major danger of drug abuse. Youth in any society occupy a delicate and sensitive position within the population structure for several reasons.
