UNDERSTANDING GOD (Numbers 13: 31-33)

But the men who had gone up with him said, "We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we." And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, "The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight."
Happy New Year. We welcome you all to 2017, our year of kingdom exploits. The Lord will grant us the grace to remain focused on what we believe in and do great exploits in the name of Jesus Christ. This January is our month of EXPANSION. The Lord will make it happen in all that we may determine to do this month in Jesus’ name. Amen. The number of years one has been attending worship services in a church may not determine his/her understanding of the Almighty God. We may be hard working in the church, we may even be title holder, yet this does not prove that we actually know our God whom we serve. We saw in our text this morning that the Israelites have been enjoying the support of the most powerful God since He brought them out of the land of their slavery yet only a few of them understood God.
If we really understand our God, our focus will be the same with His. The Lord God focused on the goodness of the land of Canaan but ten of the spies sent to explore the land focused on the strength of the opponents. Children of God, what do you see ahead of you this year? Do you see God giving you all that you may need or you doubt if God is capable of providing all your needs in Christ Jesus? Do you have a dream? How big is your dream? Despite the faithfulness of God to the Israelites in the past, many of them were not convinced that nothing is impossible with Him. Your understanding of God will determine your productivity this year. Understand this fact that nothing is difficult with God but unbelief and doubt will always look at self and quick to declare “we cannot,” while faith looks up to God and declare “we can!”
How do you see yourself? Like grasshopper or a giant? Yes, most of the time our spiritual opponents are stronger than us but they are not as strong as God our maker. God is greater than any one; this should be our focus this year. Do not focus on the size of your red sea but rather focus on the ability of God to create a way in the midst of the sea. You will walk on dry ground in the midst of the sea if you believe in God. Are you passing through desert at the moment? Understand that God will create a way for you and even bless you where others failed. All that you must do is to believe and not doubt in your heart. You will do great exploits. Jesus told us in John 14: 12-14 that "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. This is the promise of God for those who belong to Him this year. Wake up in the morning and tell yourself that you can make it. Declare to yourself that you are an achiever in Christ Jesus. However, we must mention here that you will need to give your life to Jesus if you have not done that in the past. Let Him take over the lordship of your life and watch things fall in pleasant places for you. Remain blessed in the Lord.

10 Biblical Rules for a Happy Marriage

A quick look at the scriptures will show you what true happiness in a marriage really means. Here are just 10 Bible verses that clue us in on how a godly marriage should work: Never bring up mistakes of the past.  Stop criticizing others or it will come back on you.  If you forgive others, you will be forgiven  ( Luke 6:37 ). Neglect the whole world rather than each other.  And how do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul in the process?  ( Mark 8:36 ) Never go to sleep with an argument unsettled. And don't sin by letting anger gain control over you. Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry  ( Ephesians 4:26 ). At least once a day, try to say something complimentary to your spouse. Gentle words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit  ( Proverbs 15:4 ). Never meet without an affectionate welcome. Kiss me again and again, your love is sweeter than wine  (Song of Solomon 1:2). "F...
