ABOUT WORLD AIDS DAY

WHAT IS WORLD AIDS DAY?

World AIDS Day is held on the 1st December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day, held for the first time in 1988.

WHY IS WORLD AIDS DAY IMPORTANT?

Over 100,000 people are living with HIV in the UK. Globally there are an estimated 34 million people who have the virus. Despite the virus only being identified in 1984, more than 35 million people have died of HIV or AIDS, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history.
Today, scientific advances have been made in HIV treatment, there are laws to protect people living with HIV and we understand so much more about the condition. Despite this, each year in the UK around 6,000 people are diagnosed with HIV, people do not know the facts about how to protect themselves and others, and stigma and discrimination remain a reality for many people living with the condition.
World AIDS Day is important because it reminds the public and Government that HIV has not gone away – there is still a vital need to raise money, increase awareness, fight prejudice and improve education.

WHAT SHOULD I DO ON WORLD AIDS DAY?

World AIDS Day is an opportunity to show support to and solidarity with the millions of people living with HIV. Wearing a red ribbon is one simple way to do this.
/World AIDS Day is also a great opportunity to raise money to support programs of people living with HIV//Aids and to help them become great people in life and show your support for people living with HIV. If you feel inspired to hold an event, such as a bake sale, or simply sell red ribbons,
BUT WHAT ABOUT AFTER WORLD AIDS DAY?
Although World AIDS Day is a great opportunity to talk about HIV, it is important to keep the momentum going all year round. /

LET LOT LEAVE (Gen. 13:14-18) by PASTOR R.O.Ogunkunle

LET LOT LEAVE (Gen. 13:14-18)  The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, "Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you."  So Abram moved his tents and went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he built an altar to the Lord.  Lot in the literal sense means “conceal, veil or covering.” It follows therefore that when you have a ‘Lot’ with you or in your company, your glory may not shine because there is a covering already. It was Abram that God called to leave his people for another place and not Lot. For sympathy or love for family member, he decided to allow Lot to follow him. Little by little Lot was covering the glory of God in h...

What Is Meant By Abiding In Christ?

Text: John 15:4-6 Key verse: "Abide in me, even as I abide in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit in its own strength, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in me." ( John 15:4 ). The advanced learner’s English dictionary defines abide as “Something that continues for a long time and is not likely to change”. This depicts something like a long lasting bond such as in a relationship. Abide signifies a continuous uninterrupted relationship (Jesus said for you to be fruitful, you must abide in Him and without Him, you can do nothing. Let us look at it in a simple way by taking a human analogy. Assume that a person is by himself a weak person. Assume he has actually fallen to temptation and has made a mess of things and is fast sinking further and further into a degenerated state of mind, heart and body. Now suppose that this person has a friend who has a strong, lovely and loving nature; and suppose this strong friend rescues ...
