THE LORD IS MY ROCK (Psalm 62:1-6

THE LORD IS MY ROCK (Psalm 62:1-6)
Truly my soul silently waits for God;
From Him comes my salvation.
2 He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be greatly moved.
3 How long will you attack a man?
You shall be slain, all of you,
Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence.
4 They only consult to cast him down from his high position;
They delight in lies;
They bless with their mouth,
But they curse inwardly.
5 My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my expectation is from Him.
6 He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be moved.
Our declaration this month is that we shall hold on to the Rock ages. What is this Rock ages? Who is this Rock of ages? Why should we hold on to Him? Can all the people hold on to Him or is there any qualification that must be met for one to be able to hold on to Him? These are some of the questions we will attempt to proffer answers to this month. Let us consider some of the meaning of rock. Rock could be any consolidated material consisting of more than one mineral and sometimes, organic material e.g. granite or limestone. Rock could be a large mass of mineral material especially an isolated or projected one. In another way, rock could mean a stable, dependable or supportive person or thing especially in times of trouble. The Rock of ages could therefore be nothing but the Lord God Almighty, the one who made the heaven and the earth. The one who led the Israelites from Egypt to Canaan, from slavery to liberty He is the Rock that cannot be shaken. Jesus Christ is the Rock that never fails. He is the one who can see you through the turbulent water of this world and grant you peace. Surprisingly, he was the same who guided the Israelites through the wilderness to the Promised Land. No wonder He told us in John 16: 33 that we shall find trouble in the world but only in Him we may find peace. He is capable. Let us consider some of the various activities of this Rock of ages as recorded in the bible.
Ex. 17: 6 the rock brought out water for the nation Israel. Are you thirsty of anything good? You will need to hold on to Him for the comforting water of life.
Ex. 33:21-22 the rock created a cleft for Moses to hide as God was passing. There is a place for you to hide in the Rock of ages whenever there is problem so that you may not be consumed by evil.
Num. 20 : 8 the rock can still hear you speak. God commanded Moses to speak to the Rock to produce what was needed for his people at that moment. We could see that the Rock is not an inanimate object but very much alive who can hear and do that which we request of Him.
Dt. 32: 13 the rock brought forth honey to feed the nation Israel when they were not even expecting it. Is it not amazing that rock could produce honey for people to eat? He loves you and understands all your needs.
1 Sam. 23 in the time of the wandering of King David, the rock provided accommodation for him and his men who were with him and shield them from their enemies.
There are several others from the bible but time and space will not permit us to mention them all today but we must know that this Rock of ages is not all what we have enumerated above to everybody, He is to only those who are His and are holding on to Him. Like we read in out passage this morning, David wants us to know that his faith isn't in God plus something else, but in God alone. For us to have the desired blessings form the Rock of ages we must trust in Him alone and not in any other thing or power. Give your life to this Rock of ages and have all your needs met in Him alone. Remain blessed in the Lord.

LET LOT LEAVE (Gen. 13:14-18) by PASTOR R.O.Ogunkunle

LET LOT LEAVE (Gen. 13:14-18)  The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, "Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you."  So Abram moved his tents and went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he built an altar to the Lord.  Lot in the literal sense means “conceal, veil or covering.” It follows therefore that when you have a ‘Lot’ with you or in your company, your glory may not shine because there is a covering already. It was Abram that God called to leave his people for another place and not Lot. For sympathy or love for family member, he decided to allow Lot to follow him. Little by little Lot was covering the glory of God in his l

DELAY IS DANGEROUS

DELAY IS DANGEROUS (Gen. 19: 15-17) With the coming of dawn, the angels urged Lot, saying, "Hurry! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away when the city is punished." When he hesitated, the men grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters and led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them. As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, "Flee for your lives! Don't look back, and don't stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!" The Lord has instructed us that we should hold on to the Rock of Ages for there would be trouble in the world this month. One may then ask when we need to do that. The time is now because delay is dangerous. As we could see from the above passage, Lot’s wife looked back though they have been instructed not to and she perished. Not that she just looked but while others were going forward holding on to the Rock of

The 7 Characteristics Of An Eagle And Why They Are Lessons For Good Leadership

1. Eagles Have Vision If you ever happen to see an eagle sitting high above the tree or cliff of a stiff mountain, watch closely and see how attentive the bird is. The body sits still and the head will be tilted side to side to observed what is happening below, around and above it. Even if its flying close by, you can observe how keen its eyes are looking for its prey. Eagles have a keen vision. Their eyes are specially designed for long distance focus and clarity. They can spot another eagle soaring from 50 miles away. Does this characteristic ring a bell in your mind? I am sure it does. Look at great leaders of this world who have come and gone. There are many great leaders that came and went but one characteristic that is common in all is "Vision". Vision is a successful leadership characteristic Take Abraham Lincoln for example. Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States, guided his country through the most devastating experience in its national h
